The market for selling fresh fish "Al-Mira" is located next to the fishermen's port, at the entrance to the old port of Sidon. The fisherman wakes up in the middle of the night, throws his nets into the sea, and then goes home to come back at dawn to get the nets out of the sea and they are loaded with his livelihood of fish. Then the fish are classified and placed on carts inside the fish market, which is filled with the voices of sellers, each calling for his goods and promoting them to customers. Sea lions, prawns, calamari, etc. Sometimes octopus is available in the market, but it is sold very quickly due to its rarity. But Al Meera was demolished and a new, modern and sophisticated fish market will be built in the city of Sidon that meets the needs of the fishermen by supporting them with sanitary facilities and rooms to put their gear, nets and fishing supplies there. This project is funded by the British government through the agency "UKAID - from the British people" and in partnership with the "UNDP", through the Lebanese state, in coordination with the Sidon Municipality and the Fishermen's Syndicate.
